Who We Are

Cricket Academy is a non-profit educational organization teaching Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese culture to English speaking families.  Classes are offered on Saturday mornings.

Our History

Cricket Academy was founded in the spring of 2000 by a group of parents from Milwaukee Area Families with Children from China (MA-FCC). With help from a team of native Mandarin speakers from the People’s Republic of China, the first classes were offered in the fall of that year, when approximately 35 families signed up for four levels of instruction.

Over the course of that first year, Cricket Academy helped to build a sense of community among the families within the local chapter of the MA-FCC, strengthened ties to the local Milwaukee Chinese community, and deepened our families’ sense of identification with our children’s Chinese heritage.  In other words, the rewards of our little Saturday morning “school” have been quite tangible, and very meaningful for participating families.

Our Mission

Cricket is devoted to fostering a love of Chinese language and culture by exposing children to an “American style” curriculum full of songs and games and other age-appropriate activities that make the learning, above all, fun. Language classes are also offered for parents, to give them the tools to actively support their children’s learning, and to meet their own needs.

NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY AS TO STUDENTS:

Cricket Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the academy. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other academy-administered programs.
