These classes (Cricket I - IV) focus on topics surrounding daily life and have a combination of language and culture elements.

Baby Cricket Class

Note: New students enrolling in Cricket II or higher should contact the Executive Director at to confirm the appropriate initial class level.

Cricket I Introductory Level Class

Times:9:30- 11:00am
For:Four and Five Year Olds
Prerequisite:Child must be at least four years old by August 31, 2010
Fall Course Fee:$191.00
Spring Course Fee:$239.00

This level is aimed at 4 and 5 year old children who can function in the classroom without their parents. It will provide introductory instruction in Mandarin organized around the themes of "Daily Life".

Cricket II

Times:9:30-11:00am
For:Five to Six Year Olds
Prerequisite:Completed Cricket I or have a comparable background in Mandarin. Child must be at least five years old by August 31, 2010.

Like Cricket I, this class provides instruction in Mandarin organized around the theme of "daily life" in China and the U.S., but instructional activities are targeted at the 5 - 6 age level, and the teacher will begin to introduce students to the Chinese writing system.

Cricket III

Times:9:30- 11:00am
For:Six to Seven Year Olds
Prerequisite:Completed Cricket II or have a comparable background in Mandarin. Child must be at least six years old by August 31, 2010.

Cricket III continues the "Daily Life" theme, with a focus on activities outside the home, such as shopping, attending school, and going out to eat.

Cricket IV

Times:9:30-11:00am
For:Seven to Eight Year Olds
Prerequisite:Completed Cricket III or have a comparable background in Mandarin. Child must be at least seven years old by August 31, 2010.

Students in Cricket IV will continue to hone their Mandarin skills, and will be introduced to a number of Chinese cultural traditions, such as Tai Chi, acupuncture, etc.
